作品名称 Project Title : Legend of the White Snake: 3D Sculpting

简介 Description:

The starting point for this project was to develop a clear understanding of The Legend of White Snake and decide how its central themes could be communicated visually. The story focuses on a mystical snake spirit who transforms into a human woman, falls in love, and struggles with the tension between her supernatural origins and human emotions. To express this dual identity, I chose to design the character as a hybrid figure, combining the upper body of a woman with the lower body of a snake.

This concept became the foundation of the project, allowing me to explore how visual design alone can communicate narrative, emotion, and symbolism. During the ideation stage, I created mood boards to investigate posture, costume, silhouette, and tail design, thinking carefully about how each element could reflect the character’s grace, mystery, and inner conflict. I also considered colour and symbolism, using the familiar human form to create empathy while the snake tail suggests power and otherness.

Alongside the creative development, this early stage also helped define my technical workflow. By establishing the hybrid design from the beginning, I could plan my sculpting, look development, and texturing process more effectively. Overall, this concept stage allowed me to combine storytelling, visual research, and technical planning into a character design that reflects the emotional core of the legend.
